Hi, I thought you might lik
e to know a little about me and this blog.
I live in the countryside near Orbigny which is a small commune in the Southern Touraine, with my parther Julie and my youngest son Cynan who is in his premier year at Lycee. My eldest son is studying law and languages in Tours but pops back to chez nous on a regular basis.
Julie runs a blog called www.julieinloire.com where she writes about life in rural france and gardening, its well worth a visit.
I work as a freelance trainer and consultant mostly with homeless and social care agencies across the UK, commuting from France as necessary.
I have had an interest in food and wine since living in France as a touring magician in the early 1980′s. When I returned to the UK I could no longer afford visit french restaurants so I had to learn to cook.
I started on page 1 of a french cookbook and by trial and error began to cook edible food. My cooking style has evolved from heavy French, Escoffier sauced creations, into a simpler more modern style. My food and drink interests are wide and ececltic and encompasses the use of wild produce, traditional recipes , Arabic cooking and Loire wines among others.
As I wrote in my Hello World post this blog is not just about food and drink, but a frugal gourmet approach to life, family and friends.
I hope you visit often, comment and if you wish contribute.
