Orange France has been performing to type over Christmas by losing the broadband connection! A pain if you want to blog, a disaster if you are under 18 with an Xbox live game that you want to play.
So I am writing this post in word ready for posting later, who knows when.
A short update on a couple of things.
The Saucisson Sec where ready as planned in time for Christmas, having lost about 45% of their weight. I had made two types Fennel and Black Pepper, and Rosemary with Orange. They were generally judged to be delicious particularly the Fennel and Black Pepper, about half were given away as presents and the remainder are being rapidly consumed, easy to do when you have 8+ houseguests for the season. When I dropped off the Saucisson at our friends Edith and Patrick’s I was lucky enough to catch Edith’s mum and dad.
A taste test was immediately performed and the saucisson was agreed to be excellent, praise indeed. I have met Edith’s mum a few times before and on one occasion she loaned me a copy of her personnel recipe book of traditional drink recipes for copying, across next year I will make some of the recipes up as various ingredients come into season. The recipe that I used to make Sirop Framboise is based on her recipe that post can be found here.
Other news is that I picked up my half pig shared with my friends Sandra and Jim and have therefore had a very porky Christmas, I’ll write about that next! Sandra writes a lovely blog Fete a Manger and she has written a lovely post on her take on Sebastian my butcher and buying a pig which can be found here, I’ll also write on that soon.
That’s it, I hope all my readers had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year.
